“Most of these primary school children came to school without anything to eat,” says Anoma Sriyangi Dharmawardhane, deputy principal of Hoawala Maha Vidyalaya in Mathugama, southern Sri Lanka. “Three to four months ago, at least 20-25 children fainted every day during school meetings.”
