Jeepney driver touches hearts of netizens for using cellphone as “dash camera” while driving
A jeepney driver using a cellphone as a “dash cam” goes viral online and touches the hearts of netizens.
Dash cam or dashcam is an onboard camera that continuously records the view through a vehicle’s front windshield and sometimes rear or other windows. Some dash cams include a camera to record the interior of the car in 360 degrees in camera.
Videos can be tamper-proof timestamped, a process called trusted timestamping, to ensure recorded video files are not altered after recording. It can be used as evidence when unexpected incidents occurred.
A Facebook user named Sherigen Belmis Orlanda shared video footage of a jeepney driver using his cell phone as a dash cam to film his ride. The video went viral after it was posted online.
In the video, the jeepney driver can be seen driving his vehicle to take his passengers to their destination. However, the driver only uses his cell phone as a dash cam.
The jeep driver probably cannot afford to buy a dashcam for his trips. As protection and evidence in the event of accidents, he used his cell phone to record his journeys.
