Heartland Division receives a rating from ESRB, indicating release is imminent

2 min read

The Division Heartland, Ubisoft’s upcoming free-to-play Division game, has been rated for release in America, suggesting the game could launch relatively soon.

The ESRB database contains a listing for Heartland on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC. The ratings group assigned the title an M rating, which is the same rating as The Division and The Division 2. The rating description doesn’t reveal much, but does mention how players will take on the role of an elite government agent trying to restore order.

Now Playing: Tom Clancy’s The Division Heartland: Developer Intro

“Players use machine guns, rifles, and explosives to kill members of enemy factions. Combat can be frantic at times, highlighted by realistic gunfire, screams of pain, blood splatter effects, and explosions.” “Cutscenes show more instances of violence: non-combat characters being executed at point-blank range; a silhouette scene of Russian roulette culminating in a headshot; First-person shots of a shootout; Prisoners being hit with bats or hammers. Pools of blood are sometimes depicted beneath corpses. The words ‘f**k’ and ‘sh*t’ appear in-game.”

The ESRB page also mentions that Heartland will have microtransactions, which is no surprise since the game uses a free-to-play business model.

Heartland doesn’t have a release date, but as mentioned, the fact that the ESRB has now assigned a rating to the game suggests its release could be just around the corner.

In addition to Heartland, Ubisoft is working on a mobile game called The Division: Resurgence and a feature film.
