Sam Bankman-Fried, the former CEO of collapsed crypto exchange FTX, announced Thursday that he will be a guest speaker at the New York Times’ DealBook Summit. The event will take place on November 30th in New York, USA.

Bankman-Fried shared the news on Twitter:

The news soon wreaked havoc among other crypto experts including John Deaton, the founder of Crypto Law. Deaton didn’t react well to the news, stating, “If this happens, I’ve lost all faith in our justice system.”

Deaton further added:

Let me be clear, if SBF is not arrested and charged with fraud, wire fraud, theft and possibly money laundering and instead spews out its bullshit narrative, our justice system has been compromised. Ewarren, you claim to be for the little guy, where are you.

The founder of DealBook at the New York Times, Andrew Ross Sorkin, caused a stir by clarifying that even after the FTX mishap, Bankman-Fried would still be a guest speaker. Sorkin said he had many questions that needed to be answered straight from the horse’s mouth.

Sorkin later added:

Many people have asked me if I would still interview SBF_FTX at the NYTimes DealBook Summit on November 30th… The answer is yes. There are many important questions that need to be asked and answered. Nothing is taboo. Look forward to something.

In addition to Bankman-Fried, New York Mayor Eric Adams, BlackRock (NYSE:) CEO Larry Fink, former Vice President Mike Pence, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky will be attending. Interestingly, tickets to the summit cost $2,499.

In other news, Bankman-Fried shared a disclosed apology letter in which he mentioned all of his wrongdoings that caused FTX to crash. Bankman-Fried currently resides at FTX headquarters in the Bahamas.
