Fortnite Chapter 4 Map Revealed: New POIs, Gameplay Changes and More

Fortnite Chapter 4 is here, and perhaps more exciting than anything else is its new map. The new Fortnite map has some touchstones from previous maps, like different biomes, a mountain range, and a wintry section that will no doubt be the focal point of the upcoming winter event. Here’s a breakdown of everything we learned about the new Fortnite Chapter 4 map.

New POIs

It’s a whole new island this season, so of course there’s a lot more to see than just a few new landing spots. Still, some locations might look familiar if you’ve been playing Fortnite for a while. The Citadel is a medieval village similar to the one Geralt of Rivia might walk through – which is perfect since it’s included in the Chapter 4 Season 1 Battle Pass.

Now Playing: Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1 Official Launch Gameplay Trailer

To the northeast is a snowy section with drops like Brutal Bastion and Lonely Labs. Whose labs? It’s hard to say right now, but we’ll no doubt investigate it this week. Frenzy Fields marks the lush green expanse of the map, although such visuals extend to Slappy Shores and, to some extent, Faulty Splits.

Welcome to your new island.

Gameplay Changes

Mechanically there is an innovation in the form of vaulting. Just sprint towards a waist-high object and you’ll automatically jump over it without slowing down or having to jump manually. If that’s not fast enough for you, motorcycles are making their debut this season. They can accommodate two people and can even be shot down by the driver. It looks like you can do tricks too, according to the launch trailer above.

Kinetic Ore is a new material that we are actively investigating and is intended to give players a way to manipulate physics, which should prove useful. These new locations offer plenty of opportunities to test out Chapter 4 weapons, or you can try out the new expansion system that grants buffs and abilities like faster reloads or a way to keep using your glider for players who equip it. You can even remove giant snowballs like boulders and jump into them to launch sneak attacks on your enemies.

As we discover more Fortnite Chapter 4 island secrets, we will add them here. To learn more about the new Horizons in Epic’s Battle Royale, here’s everything new in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1.
