FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) and one of the world’s largest express transportation companies, through its global community engagement program FedEx Cares, has partnered with the Haribon Foundation to reforest Mt. Batolusong at the southern end of the Sierra Madre mountain range.
FedEx held a tree planting event in Brgy on November 18th. San Andres in Tanay, Rizal, where 40 FedEx volunteers worked together to plant over 1,000 seedlings of native trees.
“At FedEx we are committed to serving the communities where we live and work. This collaboration with the Haribon Foundation is one of the ways we are providing sustainable solutions to support the needs of the local community,” said Maribeth Espinosa, Acting Managing Director, FedEx Philippines.
From 2001 to 2021, 1.34 million hectares of tree cover were lost in the Philippines, equivalent to 784 million tonnes of carbon dioxide.[1]
Reforestation activities help surrounding communities by providing livelihoods and restoring the ecological health of their natural resources.
This project is part of the FedEx Cares 50 by 50 campaign, which aims to positively impact 50 million people around the world by the company’s 50th anniversary in 2023.
